The final Power Rankings of the year, and as many expected, the Heat finish with the top spot and the Bobcats end the year at the bottom. Look for our Preview/Predictions to NBA playoffs later today!

Power Rankings End of the Season:

(W-L Season) followed by (W-L From previous week)

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

(1). Miami Heat (66-16) (6-0) – On a role winning 9 of last 10. Should be an easy choice to make it to the NBA Finals.

(2). Oklahoma City Thunder (60-22) (4-1) – Face a fast Rockets team in the playoffs. Probably preferred the Lakers, but should take care of business in the first.

(4).  Denver Nuggets (57-24) (4-0) – Gallo out, but this team will be scary, especially with there 38-3 record at home.

(5). New York Knicks (54-28) (4-0) – To me, their playoff success rides on J.R. Smith’s shoulders.

(3). San Antonio Spurs (58-24) (1-4) – 3 wins in last 10 games. Coming into the playoffs banged up. Will be tough to make a run. Read the rest of this entry

NBA Power Rankings: Week 24

Not too much shuffling in this week’s Power Rankings. There will be one final Power Rankings at the end of the season, and then a NBA playoff preview before the playoffs. The Heat continue at #1, and the Bobcats at #30. The Knicks vaulted into the top-5 with a 3 spot jump. No team took a significant fall.

Power Rankings Week 24:

(W-L Season) followed by (W-L From previous week)

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

(1). Miami Heat (60-16) (3-1) – Have the opportunity to rest key players before playoffs.

(3). Oklahoma City Thunder (56-21) (2-1) – Have the opportunity to grab the #1 seed.

(2). San Antonio Spurs (57-20) (2-3) – Banged up and Ginobli out for some of the playoffs.

(4).  Denver Nuggets (53-24) (3-0) – Gallo out for the year is a tough one, but Chandler/Brewer can step up in his absence.

(8). New York Knicks (50-26) (4-0) – Playing at their highest level of the year now. Need to keep it up if they have any shot at the Heat.

NBA Power Rankings: Week 23

I had to do the Power Rankings today, due to scheduling conflicts. This past week saw the Heat finally lose a game, and the Nuggets also finally lose. The Heat continue at #1, and the Bobcats at #30. Not much change this week, as no team took a huge gain or fall (+/- at least 3 spots).

Power Rankings Week 23:

(W-L Season) followed by (W-L From previous week)

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

(1). Miami Heat (57-15) (2-1) – Finally ended the streak, with close loss against the Bulls.

(2). San Antonio Spurs (55-17) (2-0) – Big showdown against the Heat today.

(3). Oklahoma City Thunder (54-20) (2-1) – Pretty much locked into the #2 seed, and it looks like we could get the Harden/Durant matchup in the 1st round.

(4).  Denver Nuggets (50-24) (1-2) – After a 15 game winning streak, they are in a mini slump.

(6). Memphis Grizzlies (49-24) (2-2) – Gasol surprisingly came back, and they are in the race to not get the dreaded #5 seed. Read the rest of this entry

NBA Power Rankings: Week 22

With the Heat cruising to their 26th win in a row, let’s see where the rest of the league stands. The Heat continue to be the #1 spot, and the Bobcats take the other side. The Nets took the biggest jump this week (3 spots), and the Lakers took the biggest fall (4 spots).

Power Rankings Week 22:

(W-L Season) followed by (W-L From previous week)

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

(1). Miami Heat (55-14) (4-0) – The 14 in the loss column may be permanent for the rest of the year.

(2). San Antonio Spurs (53-17) (2-1) – With a healthy Parker back, the Spurs will likely finish the year atop the West.

(3). Oklahoma City Thunder (52-19) (2-2) – Very curious to see what would have happened had Harden still been on the Thunder.

(4).  Denver Nuggets (49-22) (4-0) – Quietly have won 15 games in a row.

(5). Los Angeles Clippers (48-22) (2-1) – Now slipping (or just the Nuggets keep winning) to the 4 seed in the West. Difference of opponent is huge. Would have to face the Grizzles over the Warriors/Rockets. Read the rest of this entry

NBA Power Rankings: Week 21

With the Heat cruising to their 22nd win in a row, let’s see where the rest of the league stands. The Heat continue to be the #1 spot, and the Bobcats…well are the Bobcats. The Nuggets took the biggest jump this week (3 spots), and the Knicks took the biggest fall (3 spots).

Power Rankings Week 21:

(W-L Season) followed by (W-L From previous week)

Ranking from previous week in parentheses.

(1). Miami Heat (51-14) (4-0) – WHEN WILL IT STOP?!?!? 22 wins in a row.

(2). San Antonio Spurs (51-16) (3-1) – Are we sure Tim Duncan is already 36 (almost 37). Still putting up ridiculous numbers in some games.

(3). Oklahoma City Thunder (50-17) (3-1) – How about Sefolosha hitting the dagger in Sunday’s win against the Mavs.

(7).  Denver Nuggets (45-22) (3-0) – Half way to the Heat with 11 in a row.

(4). Los Angeles Clippers (46-21) (1-1) – The dunks are nice, but they need to take care of teams like the Grizzlies when at home (didn’t this week).  Read the rest of this entry
